Nairobi National Park, Orphanage & Giraffe Centre

About this experience

Gracilie Ventures runs this as a 6-hour day with the park at the front. You are collected in Nairobi and driven to Nairobi National Park, an urban wilderness with the city skyline behind the grass, as the listing puts it. The listing mentions giraffes, lions and rhinos among what you may see. The roof pops up, so everyone gets a clear line for photos.

Next is the Sheldrick elephant nursery for the 11am public hour: rescued calves, their milk feeds, their mud baths and the keepers who raise them. The day closes at the Giraffe Centre, where you feed the Rothschild's giraffe, now usually classified as the Nubian giraffe from the raised platform. Guests describe a lunch stop on the way, and some add the bead and leather workshop.

The price covers the pickup and drop-off, a professional guide, the pop-up roof vehicle and bottled water. Three entry fees are extra, per the listing: the park (US$80 per non-resident adult, US$40 per child, under the 2025 KWS rates (Legal Notice 160 of 2025); check KWS or eCitizen before you go), the orphanage at US$20 and the Giraffe Centre at "$15" (KSh 1,500 per non-resident adult (about US$11 to 12 at the Central Bank of Kenya rate of October 2026)). They are paid on the day as the operator arranges; KWS fees go through eCitizen. Food, drinks and tips are extra. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start, and you can reserve now and pay later.

What guests say

★★★★★

A recommended full day tour balanced with a Safari park, Elephant sanctuary, Rothschild Giraffe rehab center, a lunch stop and more. [...] Great photo access from the raised roof on the safari vehicle and very close to the animals. Highly recommend this tour along with Kevin and Dennis our amazingly fun friendly driver -guides.

Kevin was incredibly patient and dedicated throughout the entire trip. Even when we had to wait a long time to see the lions, he remained patient and genuinely wanted to make sure we saw as many animals as possible. [...] Everything was well organized, and the experience exceeded my expectations.

Tips before you book

  • Ask the operator before the day how the entry fees are collected. KWS park fees go through eCitizen, and the Trust takes its US$20 donation in cash at the gate. Ask your operator for the Trust's own confirmation email before the day.
  • Carry your passport. Under Legal Notice 160 of 2025, non-residents show a valid passport for entry to KWS parks.
  • Sit near the roof hatch on the drive. A zoom lens or binoculars help with rhinos at a distance.
  • October to December is the short rains season. The Kenya Meteorological Department expects above-average rain in Nairobi this season, running into January, so pack a light rain jacket.
