Budget Park, Orphanage & Giraffe Tour

About this experience

KT Safari keeps the classic Nairobi morning simple. After an early pickup from your accommodation (the listing names Westlands, Parklands and Kilimani among its pickup areas), the open-roof minivan heads to Nairobi National Park for a game drive that runs until 11am. Guests mention lions, rhinos and giraffes, with the city skyline behind the grass.

Then comes the Sheldrick elephant nursery for its 11am public hour, where the keepers feed the calves from big milk bottles and tell you how each was orphaned. A lunch break and some shopping follow, including a free visit to the Kobe Beads workshop, and the day ends at the Giraffe Centre, where you can feed the Rothschild's giraffe, now usually classified as the Nubian giraffe by hand under the eye of the centre's staff. GetYourGuide lists the tour at 4 hours.

The price covers the pickup and drop-off, a driver-guide, the open-roof minivan, the game drive, the Kobe Beads visit and bottled water. Paid on the day, per the listing: the park at US$80 per non-resident adult plus a US$2 processing fee by card on eCitizen (under the 2025 KWS rates (Legal Notice 160 of 2025); check KWS or eCitizen before you go), the orphanage at US$20 and the Giraffe Centre at "$15" (KSh 1,500 per non-resident adult (about US$11 to 12 at the Central Bank of Kenya rate of October 2026)). Lunch and tips are extra. Bring a card for the park and the giraffes and US dollars in cash for the elephants. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start, and you can reserve now and pay later.

A great way to see some animals, especially if you’re short on time. The national park safari was a great introduction: saw lions, rhinos and giraffe, among animals. The elephant sanctuary was a real highlight. The whole day was well organised and great value for money. Recommended.

It was a wonderful experience. James was an amazing guide. He found the best spots and we managed to see a lot of animals. He was also great fun and answered to all our questions. We really recommend this tour, a perfect day to spend in Nairobi. Really worth it

  • Carry your passport. Under Legal Notice 160 of 2025, non-residents show a valid passport for entry to KWS parks.
  • Morning drives are cool in an open roof. Bring a layer and a hat.
  • At the Giraffe Centre an educator hands out pellets of corn, wheat, grass and molasses, and the feeding recommendations are on the notice board by the payment booth. Follow the educators and you will be fine.
